Sky Reporter Confirms Man United Are“Keen”On£50M Rated Brazilian Ace Who Chelsea And Liverpool Also Want

Manchester United have entered the race to sign Brighton forward Joao Pedro, according to Sky Sports reporter Rob Dorsett.

Writing on his X account, Dorsett said that the Red Devils are “keen” on buying the Brazilian international, along with Chelsea and Liverpool.

Pedro is expected to be on the market this summer, with his asking price said to be between £50m and £60m.

The 23-year-old has been with Brighton for the last two seasons, having been bought from Watford for £30m in the summer of 2023.

Pedro has gone on to score 30 goals in 70 appearances for the Seagulls, having also registered 10 assists.

Why are United interested in the forward?

Before moving to Brighton, Pedro played most of his football on the wing. He is also very comfortable when dropping deep for the ball.

It makes Pedro perfectly suited for one of the two No.10 roles behind the main striker in Ruben Amorim’s 3-4-3 system. The Red Devils could be hoping to pair him up with another Brazilian, Matheus Cunha, with another new signing being brought to lead the line.

Pedro’s disciplinary problems will be a concern

The Brazilian missed Brighton’s 3-2 win over Liverpool on Monday night due to a training ground incident. It is believed that the forward had an altercation with teammate Jan Paul van Hecke.

Pedro is also expected to sit out the final game of the season as a punishment. Head coach Fabian Hurzeler played down the seriousness of the confrontation, but he has confirmed his omission from the matchday squad to face Tottenham:

“Joao won’t be in the squad. We had a small issue in training – a type which isn’t uncommon from time to time in all football clubs. We dealt with it internally and the matter is closed.”
