Bayern Munich president confirms Florian Wirtz Liverpool news

Florian Wirtz has set the world alight since his debut for Bayer Leverkusen.

Heavily impressing at club and now international level, the German midfielder’s career path looked all set for Bayern Munich.

Following in the footsteps of so many Germans before him, it now appears he is now set to rip up the script.

Liverpool are now the front runners for his signature, and he looks set to step out of his homeland to see if he has what it takes to make it in the Premier League.

Bayern Munich are growing unsettled that they are about to lose someone they dreamed of having, and an update has arrived from the Bundesliga side’s hierarchy that further deepens their concerns.

FC Bayern Munich president Herbert Hainer has confirmed that the club has been informed about Florian Wirtz’ preference for Liverpool.

“Max Eberl [Bayern’s director of sport] informed me that Florian Wirtz is probably leaning towards Liverpool.”

Therefore, Liverpool have seemingly won the race for Florian Wirtz.

This will be a huge blow for Bayern Munich, who up until this week were extremely confident on the possibility of purchasing the 22-year-old as they were convinced Wirtz wanted to continue to develop in Germany and assert himself as one of the best players of the country’s new generation.

But, twists and turns happen in football, and you feel there is still a lot that can happen between now and a confirmation of a deal being agreed.

The two sides are stuck in a fierce tug of war for one of the hottest talents on the planet and there is much yet to be decided.

After potentially missing out on Wirtz, Bayern Munich’s shortlist consists of Kaoru Mitoma of Brighton, Eberechi Eze of Crystal Palace and negotiations over a new contract for Leroy Sane have reopened.
