Daniel Farke admitted shocking fact to Chris Wilder after Leeds United achieved Premier League promotion

Leeds United are still basking in their success of returning to the Premier League, which is something Chris Wilder couldn’t do the first time of asking.

Daniel Farke and Leeds can look ahead to the window and put plans in place for what is going to be a challenging season.

Much has been made of the German staying in his post as Troy Deeney thinks Sean Dyche would better Farke.

It’s harsh to throw these claims out straight away with the Whites boss not getting his chance to prove his worth in the Premier League.

With the season now done though, Farke seemingly admitted something to Wilder that fans might find a bit strange.

The season is at an end, but the work certainly doesn’t stop in the Leeds camp.

With the transfer window doors almost opening, the Whites are already preparing for what could be a massive summer for the club.

Time will tell if this occurs, but Paraag Marathe promised an ‘aggressive’ window which fans will hope he stands by.

But going back to the end of the campaign, Wilder has outed Farke after a conversation they had after Leeds secured their return to the top flight.

Speaking to The Telegraph, the Sheffield United boss said Farke admitted the promotion race would’ve been close had the Blades not been deducted two points from the EFL.

“I spoke to Daniel Farke and he said that really the two points would have made a difference to Leeds United,” Wilder said.

“Especially the way they are as an emotional football club. I do believe it has been overlooked.

“92 points is an outstanding season.”

Wilder’s own mistake gave Leeds United advantage not the two-point deduction

There can be shouts that the Blades’ two-point deduction from the off might have had a say in their fortunes, but Sheffield themselves had a lead at the top and bottled it.

Wilder knew the race was close but continually mentioned what could’ve been had two points not been deducted.

Well, going off the final standings, Wilder would’ve needed an extra five points to even stay with the Whites and Burnley.

However, it can be said that Sheffield selling Jayden Bogle to Leeds was Wilder’s own error and not the two points.

Leeds signing the right-back for £5m proved to be a key factor in Farke’s side going up, with Bogle having a serious impact.

Bogle’s statistics for Leeds this season

Games played 44

Goals 6

Assists 4

Tackles won 62

Duels won per 90 5.82

Despite the mistake, Wilder didn’t want to sell Bogle, but he failed to mention that this was a big reason why Farke’s Leeds worked so well this season.

Two points would’ve been a talking point had the season been tighter, but in the end, Leeds and Burnley were superior.
