Leeds United have been linked with Newcastle United pair Callum Wilson and Sean Longstaff for a number of weeks now, with the transfer speculation starting before the Whites had even secured their return to the Premier League.
In need of experience across the park, former England striker Wilson and midfielder Longstaff would fit the bill of what Leeds boss Daniel Farke is looking for this summer. Wilson's availability as a free agent and Longstaff having just one year remaining on his contract and now out of first team reckoning, make the duo very attractive and increase the chances of them moving on this summer from St James' Park.
Now, our sister title in the north east, [Chronicle Live, say](https://www.chroniclelive.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/leeds-united-eye-double-newcastle-31709654) 'Leeds United have had the names of both Callum Wilson and Sean Longstaff pushed their way ahead of the summer trading period.' While talk of Leeds being interested has been circulated for weeks, it is now suggested representatives of both are pushing their cause to the Whites.
Wilson's scoring record in the Premier League will be an attraction to many top flight clubs, with his injury record in recent years negated somewhat by the fact he can be signed as a free agent, cutting the risk so long as a sensible wage can be agreed. Newcastle manager Eddie Howe has suggested he would like to keep hold of Wilson, but with Alexander Isaak in place as the starting sole striker, Wilson knows his chances of playing are very limited.
Leeds will almost certainly explore the free agent market for some of their recruitment this year given the extent of the squad improvements that are needed. Another former England striker and free agent Jamie Vardy is also being linked with a move to Elland Road.
