Kevin De Bruyne is set to play his final Manchester City game this weekend, and after that, he’ll be the most high-profile free agent on the market.
Kevin De Bruyne will be looking for a new club this summer, and he has a few interesting avenues open to him.
De Bruyne has been linked with a move to MLS, while Liverpool were said to be keen on the City star at one point.
Speaking on the Sky Sports Transfer Talk Podcast, Pete Graves has been discussing De Bruyne’s future, and he said that it was mentioned to him this week that someone had heard a whisper that Newcastle could be in for the Belgian this summer.

“I’m sure many of the clubs in and around the top six would be interested. I mean, I heard Liverpool linked. Someone actually said to me in Bilbao, they’d heard Newcastle.
“So, you know, there’s a lot of whispers floating around about De Bruyne. It’d be fascinating to see where he does end up.”
What Eddie Howe has said about Kevin De Bruyne
Newcastle could be in the mix to sign De Bruyne this summer, and Eddie Howe is a noted fan of the Belgian.
Indeed, De Bruyne was excellent vs Newcastle last season, and Howe hailed De Bruyne after that game.
“Yeah, we had chances in the game. First half, maybe a slow start but we came into the match, we scored two goals, we could have potentially scored more. Limited chances in the second half, a couple of counter-attacks that ended in opportunities for us”, Howe said.
“But yeah, their quality told in the end. I thought the substitution of [Kevin] De Bruyne, obviously, world-class player, he scored one and he’s assisted one and he made the difference, really.”
Of course, whether or not Newcastle go for this deal remains to be seen – this is hardly the most substantial link, but when a player this talented is on the market for free, clubs such as Newcastle should be having a look.
