The Women's Champions League final is today's showpiece occasion as Arsenal and Barcelona battle for the crown of Europe's best at the Estadio Jose Alvalade. The Gunners are seeking to get their hands on the trophy for the first time since 2007, though they will have to dethrone the current holders in order to do so.
Arsenal’s run to the final has ultimately been based on comebacks. They overturned first leg deficits to overcome Real Madrid and Lyon at the quarter-final and semi-final stage respectively, but will know there are no second chances after this evening as they look to avoid finishing the campaign trophyless.
Barcelona, meanwhile, eased through the group stage before making light work of Wolfsburg and Chelsea in the knockout phase. Viewed as the most dominant force in women’s football, they are seeking to win this competition for a fourth time in their history and complete a quadruple for the second season in a row.
