‘Welcome to hell’ – Dean Huijsen warned to prepare for ‘worst nightmare’ after Bournemouth

Bournemouth defender Dean Huijsen has been warned to prepare himself for his worst nightmare as he gets set to join Real Madrid.

[ABC journalist Juanma Rodriguez](https://www.abc.es/deportes/real-madrid/juanma-rodriguez-bienvenido-infierno-huijsen-20250524021202-nt.html) sends his warning to the Bournemouth start today, warning that Real Madrid will be no picnic for him.

Huijsen is set to join Real Madrid in the summer after they moved quickly to sign him from Bournemouth earlier this month.

The defender has established himself as one of the rising talents in Europe with the Cherries this season, with a series of impressive performances in the heart of their defence following a move from Juventus last summer.

He had several European giants chasing his signature as a result, but it was Real Madrid who move quickly and decisively to get him first.

He’ll form part of a new look defence at the Santiago Bernabeu next season under Xabi Alonso, who will also be welcoming Trent Alexander-Arnold as his new right-back.

The step up from Bournemouth will undoubtedly be a huge one for Huijsen to make and Rodriguez warns he needs to prepare himself for the absolute worst, reminding him of what happened to Jonathan Woodgate in a piece title ‘Welcome to hell, Huijsen’.

“You have to have some really big balls and decide to put them all in the same basket to dare to sign for Real Madrid,” he said.

“There will be those who believe that coming to Madrid is a dream, the pinnacle, the ‘life in roses’, Mallory’s Everest, but no, no way, that’s nothing more than cheap poetry because now Huijsen’s worst nightmare begins.

“How simple it would have been to sign for the Telerín family and go to Barcelona to play with the cheerful Gabi, Pedri, and Fati to secure his international cap, and it turns out Real Madrid comes along and interferes.

“As a perfumer friend of mine says, the golden age of Spanish sports journalism. It’s not a threat but a premonition: like a footballing Gregor Samsa, from now on we’ll witness the slow but inexorable transformation of the Amsterdam-born pearl into an enormous insect named Jonathan Woodgate.

“Your high school days are over, Dean, take down the Ramos posters from your room and welcome to hell.”
