Aston Villa join Liverpool in race for Serie A star

Clubs are moving swiftly to get their transfer deals wrapped up earlier than ever thanks to a new timeframe for the summer transfer window.

Due to the FIFA Club World Cup, FIFA have approved a ‘special window’ between June 1st and June 10th.

This has led to clubs participating in the Club World Cup scrambling to add reinforcements before the event, as well as those not participating eager not to miss out on their targets.

A player who has been softly linked to Liverpool in recent weeks is Juventus midfielder Nicolo Rovella, a midfielder currently with Lazio, on loan from Juventus.

The 23-year-old is impressing in Italy and has been linked to Liverpool as a result.

Whilst he is not exactly a player who grabs the headlines, his football intelligence and defensive solidity makes him a top deep-lying midfielder.

Someone who could potentially add depth to a role that Gravenberch has filled all season long and may feel the effects of next campaign.

Whilst Liverpool linked to the Italian midfielder, Il Messagero have revealed that Aston Villa have also expressed interest in the player.

Rovella has come out and said that he is happy where he is and eager to develop in Italy further.

“I am flattered that the big clubs are looking at me, but I am already at a big club.”

“I hope to win a lot here, to bring Lazio back to the top.”

Rovella is a top talent and it is often important in football to add depth to a squad, especially one like Liverpool who compete for every trophy year after year.

A man with his head screwed on and not looking for an immediate switch, but if Liverpool come knocking this summer he may have a re-think.

Liverpool will be looking to add to multiple areas of their squad this summer, in a bid to go for it all once again next season.
