Ruben Amorim rules Leny Yoro out of clash against Aston Villa,'we have to be...'

Manchester United will be without Leny Yoro for the final game of the season against Aston Villa.

Manchester United host Aston Villa in the last Premier League game of the season.

There will be a sigh of relief, along with the feeling of embarrassment, when the full-time whistle is blown at Old Trafford on Sunday.

It has been a disastrous campaign with United set to finish 16th or 17th in the league table. To make matters worse, United lost the Europa League final against Tottenham Hotspur on Wednesday night.

Ruben Amorim will have more time with his players to focus on the Premier League, with United fans expecting improved form and better performances from the team.

Ruben Amorim rules Leny Yoro out of Aston Villa clash

United were given a boost ahead of the Europa League final when Leny Yoro passed fit to play against Tottenham.

The 19-year-old defender was one of United’s top performers, regularly carrying the ball out of defence when the Red Devils were chasing the game in the second half. Yoro didn’t put a foot wrong defensively either.

During an interview with MUTV at Carrington on Saturday, ahead of Villa’s trip to Old Trafford, Amorim answered a question about the fitness of his team.

Amorim explained there are “some situations” he is having to deal with, and suggested that Yoro would not be risked against Villa.

When asked if everyone came away from the final fit, Amorim replied: “No, there are some situations, like Leny [Yoro]. We have to be careful. We had that in the last [home] game before the final, I think it was West Ham, on his foot.

“We’re going to take care of some situations so as not to compromise next season. The rest, we want to win the game so we are going to put a squad together.”

United have nothing to play for except pride, however, the players should be aiming to give the fans a good send-off before the summer. It’s the least they deserve after following the team far and wide throughout a disappointing campaign.

As a result, United won’t have any European football to look forward to next season.

That is the price Amorim will pay for throwing away the league season and prioritising the Europa League, despite falling short in Europe’s second-tier competition.

Amorim told reporters at his press conference: “No, what changes is it is one less competition and no game in the middle of the week. It means you can manage the squad in a different way. That rotation of the players and the depth of the squad, that changes completely if you have three competitions. That changes the plan but not the way I look at my players just by looking at the final.”
