Ahead of completing a £30m transfer to Liverpool, Jeremie Frimpong is one of many to have congratulated fellow Dutchman Ryan Gravenberch on winning the Premier League's young player of the season award. Soon the pair will not only be international teammates, but club ones, too.

As previously reported by the ECHO, Frimpong has undergone a medical to become Arne Slot's first signing of the summer. The entire process, prompted by the impending departure of Trent Alexander-Arnold, has been expedited because the 24-year-old possesses a £30m release clause to leave Bayer Leverkusen.

The prospect of the full-back's arrival has kickstarted great excitement at Liverpool ahead of the summer transfer window opening, especially if he is to be joined by Florian Wirtz.

When Frimpong signs, he would be joining a growing cohort of Dutch stars on Merseyside. There is Slot and his coaching staff, captain Virgil van Dijk, Cody Gakpo and last but not least, Gravenberch.

The midfielder has enjoyed a stellar title-winning campaign with spectacular results stemming from his move to become a defensive-minded cog in the machine - so much so that he has now been voted the Premier League's 2024/25 young player of the season.

"This season has been one to remember - and this award makes it even more special. I'm grateful to the coaches, teammates, and fans who made it all possible," the 23-year-old wrote afterwards on Instagram.

And showing his support, Frimpong commented: "Ryan laaa [red heart emoji, trophy emoji]."

Numerous Reds stars also congratulated the midfielder, including Van Dijk and Gakpo.

Interestingly, so too did a number of other Dutch stars from clubs across Europe. That includes Xavi Simons of RB Leipzig, commenting two red heart emojis, and Ajax defender Jorrel Hato, who commented the same.

Both individuals have seen themselves linked to Anfield in transfer speculation building up to the summer.

Gakpo, asked about Frimpong last Monday, expressed a pleasure with more Dutch talent coming to Liverpool and the Premier League.

"I'm very, very proud to see so many Dutch players here. We have a lot of Dutch players now in the Premier League. Everybody is doing good, so hopefully we can continue," he said.

"Brighton have three Dutch players and one more on the bench, we all know each other very well, so that is nice to catch up here.

"Maybe [Frimpong is next], I don’t know yet, maybe you know more than me!

"He is another Dutch one, well 'English' as well you know? He's a very good guy, and I know him very well from the national team, and a good player as well. So let's see if he comes or not."
