Ipswich Town v West Ham United

Team news

Ipswich will assess forward Sammie Szmodics, who is back in training but has not featured since February because of an ankle problem, while manager Kieran McKenna says several unspecified players have been struggling with illness this week.

Wes Burns, Kalvin Phillips, Conor Townsend, Arijanet Muric, Jaden Philogene and Chiedozie Ogbene remain sidelined.

Top scorer Liam Delap is set to play his last game for the Blues, having been given permission this week to speak to suitors willing to pay his £30m release clause.

West Ham boss Graham Potter has reported no new injuries, with Crysencio Summerville and Michail Antonio the only absentees.

Aaron Cresswell and Vladimir Coufal are set for their final appearances before departing when their contracts expire this summer, while Jarrod Bowen could play his 200th Premier League game.

Match facts

Head-to-head

Ipswich's only win in their last 17 top-flight games against West Ham was by 1-0 at Upton Park in March 2001 courtesy of a Martijn Reuser free-kick (D6, L10).

The Blues' most recent top-flight home win versus the Hammers came in April 1982, when Russell Osman, John Wark and Alan Brazil scored in a 3-2 victory at Portman Road.

Ipswich Town

The Blues' tally of 22 points means they are already assured of ending the season with the lowest total in their league history (readjusted to three points for a win), eclipsing their figure of 27 points in 1994-95.

Defeat could see Ipswich equal Sunderland's record for fewest points won at home in a Premier League season (seven in 2005-06). However, Southampton – who have six points at St Mary's this term – will break the record if they lose to Arsenal on Sunday.

Town's only home league win this season was a 2-0 victory against Chelsea on 30 December.

The only teams to have ended a Premier League campaign with a solitary home victory are Sunderland in 2005-06 and Derby in 2007-08, though Southampton can also match that total in 2024-25.

The Tractor Boys have lost 11 of their last 12 Premier League home games, including all eight since the turn of the year – the longest losing run at home in their league history.

Ipswich have been beaten in 13 league fixtures at Portman Road this season, equalling the club record set during relegation from the Premier League in 1994-95 (across a 42-game campaign.

Kieran McKenna's men have failed to keep a clean sheet in all 18 of their league games this calendar year, conceding 46 goals and claiming seven points from a possible 54 (W1, D4, L13).

West Ham United

Defeat would mean the Hammers finish with 40 points – they have recorded a lower total in only three Premier League seasons: 33 in 2010-11, 35 in 2009-10 and 39 in 2019-20.

The Hammers have lost their last league match in each of the past three seasons. The only time they have done so in four consecutive campaigns was 92 years ago.

Victory at Manchester United on 11 May means they are vying to win consecutive top-flight away games for the first time since December 2023.

Jarrod Bowen, who is set to make his 200th Premier League appearance, has either scored or assisted in all five of his previous league appearances against Ipswich, scoring four goals and setting up two.

Aaron Cresswell could make his 369th and final appearance for West Ham. He joined the club from Ipswich in 2014 and has played 311 Premier League games - only Mark Noble (414) has featured more for the Hammers in the competition.
