Benjamin Sesko has revealed his true colours with an emotional statement to RB Leipzig supporters following a disappointing Bundesliga campaign for the club.
The German top-flight season concluded a week ago, with Leipzig finishing seventh in the standings and missing out on European qualification for the first time since 2016. They managed just 13 wins from 34 games - with Sesko contributing 13 goals during that stretch.
The 21-year-old joined Leipzig from fellow Red Bull outfit, RB Salzburg, in 2023 and is under contract until 2029. However, he has been attracting interest from top clubs across Europe, including Arsenal, who were first linked with the Slovenia international last summer after his standout Euro 2024 campaign.
This week, Sesko took to Instagram to share a heartfelt message with Leipzig supporters, addressing the team's disappointing season head-on.
"It's been a difficult season for us," he wrote. "Sometimes in football, things don't go the way we all hope.
"We all take responsibility for that. Fighting for the RB Leipzig shirt, badge and colours this season has once again been a massive honour - a real source of pride. Thanks to the fans for your support throughout the season!"
The latest reports suggest that Arsenal are preparing to make a swoop for Sesko this summer, with Mikel Arteta keen to strengthen his attacking options. Sesko, along with Sporting CP striker Victor Gyokeres, have been linked with a switch to the Emirates Stadium ahead of what could be a pivotal summer for the club as they push hard for major honours next season.
Arsenal's Premier League campaign wraps up on Sunday afternoon with a visit to relegated Southampton. The Gunners have already secured Champions League qualification for next season, although Manchester City could draw level with them on points if they beat Fulham and Arsenal suffer a shock defeat at St Mary's.
