Jamie Carragher has revealed that he was told to 'f*** off' by Nottingham Forest owner Evangelos Marinakis after standing in solidarity with Gary Neville. Forest have implemented a ban on Sky Sports colleague Neville after he criticised Marinakis' behaviour following their last home game against Leicester.

The Greek had stormed onto the pitch after full-time to remonstrate with manager Nuno Espirito Santo regarding the coaching and medical staff's treatment of the injured Taiwo Awoniyi. On social media platform X, Neville said: "Scandalous from that Forest owner.

"Nuno should go and negotiate his exit tonight with him! The Forest fans, players and manager do not deserve that."

Marinakis didn't take kindly to the post and Neville has been denied media accreditation for their huge final-day clash with Chelsea on Sunday. A win would see Forest qualify for the Champions League for the first time in 45 years and deny Chelsea a place in Europe's elite competition.

Neville responded to Forest's decision in an Instagram post on Friday. Carragher commented with a series of laughing emojis before former Manchester United captain Neville replied asking if the Liverpool legend had also been denied accreditation.

"He said I was fine to commentate, but I couldn't go near the pitch," Carragher explained. "I said, 'I'm not coming at all if you're not letting Gary in', so he told me to, 'F**k off'."

It's understood that Sky will no longer present their show live from the City Ground and instead cover the match from their own studio in west London. They will, however, send a commentary team up to Nottingham.

Neville has received a flood of support after Forest's ban emerged. "I was contacted by Sky Sports earlier on in the week and told that I would be commentating at the City Ground on Sunday for the Nottingham Forest v Chelsea match," he wrote in the aforementioned post.

"I was informed yesterday by Sky Sports that Nottingham Forest would not give me an accreditation or access to the stadium as a co-commentator. I've had no choice but to withdraw from the coverage.

Evangelos Marinakis was furious with Sky Sports pundit Gary Neville

"I've dished out my fair share of criticism and praise in the last 14 years of doing this job and have never come close to this unprecedented action. Personally, I think it's disappointing that a great club like Nottingham Forest have been reduced to making such a decision.

"Whilst they have every right to choose who they let into their own stadium, it's symptomatic of things that have happened over the last 12 months with the club.

"I wish the coaching staff, players and fans of the club all the best in their quest to achieve Champions League football."
