With West Ham more than likely looking more closely at free agents in the upcoming transfer window, one player I mentioned in a previous article has just signed for [Brighton & Hove Albion](https://www.claretandhugh.info/brighton-hove-albion-3-2-west-ham-player-ratings/) having declined a new contract offer at PSV Eindhoven.
_Olivier Boscagli_, aged 27, will join the South coast club from July 1st. The Seagulls tried to sign the player last summer and had one bid rejected. The Monaco-born player can operate both at centre-back and left-back, and has represented France at U-21 level. With 204 appearances for PSV, he played a big part in the Dutch clubs back to back title wins in 2024 and 2025.
Olympique Marseille, Fenerbahce, Borussia Dortmund, Besiktas and Galatasaray were all linked to the player – and with PSR regulations overshadowing player recruitment this does not come as a surprise.
According to a recent article by Gary Jacob in the Times, the Hammers are looking to recruit a left back and centre back in the summer window that is soon upon us, so it is surprising that Boscagli wasn’t on the radar. Brighton get their man and the Hammers go empty handed.
