Cousins Trade Update As Rodgers Hints At Final Steelers Move

As Aaron Rodgers gets cute, the idea of the Pittsburgh Steelers trading for Atlanta Falcons backup quarterback Kirk Cousins ...

Gets cut.

Rodgers recently dropped a new hint on his plan to eventually sign in The Steel City, a follow-up to NFL Insider Adam Schefter and others having stated that a final move is coming to bring these two parties together.

"My guess is he’s going to wind up there,” Schefter said of Rodgers to Pittsburgh. “I think that we’ve heard Art Rooney, the team owner, say he expects Aaron Rodgers to sign there, and they have mandatory minicamp June 10th to the 12th, so I would think Rodgers is on the table here in the next week or so.”

And if Rodgers is coming ...

Cousins isn't.

This may be one of the last opportunities for Cousins to be traded, barring another team sustaining a major injury ... though the New Orleans Saints could be a possibility.

If Rodgers were to turn the Steelers down? This would make Cousins the No. 1 target for Pittsburgh.

But otherwise?

The Atlanta Falcons are stuck.

They have tried desperately to find a team willing to take on a chunk of the $40 million still owed to Cousins. ... with some thinking of them as "stubborn'' for not cutting their losses on his massive deal, which includes the $90 million guaranteed they owe the quarterback who now backs up young Michael Penix.

But as it stands? Kirk Cousins figures to be a rich backup quarterback on the Falcons' roster this upcoming season. ... unless Aaron Rodgers says otherwise.
