Scott McTominay has received a huge response from Manchester United after helping Napoli win the Serie A title on Friday night.
The club's academy graduate joined Italian Serie A side Napoli in a £25million deal last summer, despite impressing under then-United manager Erik ten Hag. McTominay's sale was in part due to United needing to improve their PSR (Profit and Sustainability Rules) position - with homegrown players offering a vital boost with any sale representing pure profit.
McTominay has impressed for Antonio Conte's side in Naples, with his performances playing a key role in helping Napoli secure the Italian top-flight title. The 28-year-old has played 36 games for Conte's team in all competitions, scoring 13 goals and providing six assists.
And McTominay has now sent an emotional message on Instagram after scoring in Napoli's 2-0 win over Cagliari, which secured the Scudetto.
"Hard work always catches up with perfect timing. CAMPIONI D’ITALIA," he said alongside a picture of him kissing the Serie A trophy.
McTominay's post has received likes and comments from several United players past and present - such as Bruno Fernandes, Mason Mount, Juan Mata and David De Gea.
The midfielder fell to the ground at the end of Napoli's final league game in tears and was left speechless.
"I'm lost for words," the Scot said after that match. "It's incredible you know, the sacrifice that every single player in the group has put forward to the cause.
"And the people deserve it because they've been behind us from day one, and for me to come and experience this is a dream."
The former United star is enjoying his time in Italy as he told BBC Scotland earlier this season: "I saw the passionate fans, I saw the coach, I saw the players and I saw an opportunity.
"I took it, I didn't look back. It didn't take me long to make a decision because I knew it was what I wanted - and I'll never have any regrets in my life.
"As soon as I put my mind to something I want to do it, that's it. There's no holding me back. I love this place, I love the fans, and I love my teammates."
