Liverpool could equal unique goalscoring record against Crystal Palace

Liverpool will have the chance to equal a record that has stood for 64 years on Sunday against Crystal Palace.

The final game of Liverpool’s title-winning season will see them face off against Crystal Palace as they look to close out the season in style.

Liverpool are sure to be in a celebratory mood ahead of lifting the Premier League trophy, but they will be wary of focusing at the job in hand and putting on a show for the supporters during their final game.

The title winners have been a shadow of themselves since confirmation of their league triumph, failing to win in three games since the 5-1 thrashing of Spurs at Anfield.

Defeats against Chelsea and Brighton, as well as a draw against Arsenal will mean that Liverpool will be keen to bounce back one last time.

Against Brighton, Arne Slot’s men let a 2-1 lead at half-time slip away as they fell to a 3-2 defeat.

But, whilst the Reds left the south coast empty-handed, the two goals scored at the Amex represented the 31st time that they had scored two goals or more in the Premier League this season.

Because of this, Sports Mole have highlighted that they now have the chance to equal a unique record for the most games with multiple goals scored in a single season.

They will equal a record currently held by Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur, as they both scored two or more goals 32 times in the 1956/57 season and 1060/61 season respectively.

Being on the verge of such a record demonstrates the dominance that Liverpool have had on the Premier League this year, with Mohamed Salah’s brilliance a big reason for their success.

The Egyptian winger will be looking to add to his 28-goal tally against the Eagles and equal the Premier League goal involvements record for one player in a single season.

He needs just one more contribution to match Andy Cole and Alan Shearer on 47, and with a buzzing Anfield behind him, he could just break it.
