Liverpool have offered Florian Wirtz a staggering salary as they hope to swiftly sign the playmaker, according to Sky Sports Switzerland’s Sacha Tavolieri.
Many assumed that Liverpool would struggle somewhat in the 2024/25 season, given that it was their first season without Jurgen Klopp in almost a decade. His replacement, former Feyenoord boss Arne Slot, was regarded as a good coach upon his appointment, though few could have foreseen just how well he would adapt to English football.
Slot guided Liverpool to their second-ever Premier League title, winning the trophy with four games to spare in a dominant campaign for the Reds. It is clear that the Merseyside club are keen on defending their status as champions, having already signed Jeremie Frimpong to replace Trent Alexander-Arnold, who is bound for Real Madrid.
Liverpool are also pushing to sign Frimpong’s Bayer Leverkusen teammate, Florian Wirtz. It would seem that the club have now offered Wirtz an eye-watering wage to convince him into signing for them.

All signs are suggesting that Wirtz will, in the coming weeks, become a Liverpool player. The attacking midfielder, who was a key part of the Leverkusen side that won an unbeaten Bundesliga and DFB-Pokal double in the 2023/24 campaign, enjoyed yet another stellar term in Germany.

For Wirtz to join Liverpool, he would need to be paid a hefty salary. Tavolieri has said that the contract offer from the Reds is worth up to “20 million euros gross per year,” which translates roughly into just under £17 million per year, or £325,000 per week, a wage that would put Wirtz in and amongst Liverpool’s highest earners.
Wirtz would be such a statement signing from the Reds, one that shows the rest of the league just how serious Liverpool are about maintaining their dominance. It seems now that it is a question of when, not if, Wirtz moves to Anfield.
