Manchester United identify three Alejandro Garnacho replacements after Ruben Amorim’s ruthless transfer decision

With Alejandro Garnacho set to leave the club, Manchester United have been eyeing several potential replacements for the attacker.

Manchester United’s season effectively ended after their Europa League final defeat in Bilbao, with only a near-meaningless game against Aston Villa remaining this term.

Ruben Amorim has already begun shaping the summer rebuild, and several players are set to leave the club in the coming weeks. According to David Ornstein, Amorim informed the squad he will remain in charge of the club next season in a meeting this week.

He has also told Alejandro Garnacho to find a new club after the winger publicly criticised him for not starting the Europa League final. Garnacho is confident of interest from other Premier League sides, with Saudi Pro League clubs also expected to make offers.

Garnacho, 20, is viewed as one of the most exciting young players in United’s squad but he has also not been without his critics. Securing around £60 million for him would bolster the club’s abilities to sign more players in the summer.

Matheus Cunha is already expected to join to become the first-choice player in the left-sided no.10 spot where Garnacho has often played – but he is not a replacement for the Argentine.

Instead, United are likely going to be looking at bringing another player who can play in those no.10 roles this summer to replace Garnacho and several targets have already been identified.

Franco Mastantuono

Franco Mastantuono is the youthful and exciting option who could replace Garnacho and be a squad member heading into Old Trafford.

The Argentina wonderkid is extremely highly rated and United are among those chasing his signature but River Plate are not keen on letting him leave this summer.

At just 17 years of age, Mastantuono is already playing consistent first-team football in South America and will be a great young option to boost the squad, seeming similar to the deal which saw Leny Yoro join last summer.

Bryan Mbeumo

Some may argue that United need another senior option in those attacking positions and Brentford star Bryan Mbeumo would be considered the perfect option by many.

Proven in the Premier League, with 19 goals this season, and just 25 years of age, Mbeumo would offer similar benefits to the signing of Cunha. It feels like a deal that would be a guaranteed success.

He would cost in the region of £60 million and it would take some convincing for him to join the club, but this is perhaps the most ready-made option to come into that frontline in place of Garnacho.

Rayan Cherki

With the proven option of Mbeumo and the youthful choice of Mastantuono, it feels like Rayan Cherki sits somewhere in between the two of them.

Cherki is just 21 years old but has multiple years of experience at the top level in France. He is expected to be the cheapest option of the three after confirming that he’s leaving Lyon this summer.

He already impressed United when they faced off in the Europa League quarter-finals, scoring twice across the two-legged tie, and he also shone bright in Ligue 1 this season.
