Insider reveals timeline for Pittsburgh Steelers’ new add at wide receiver

After the Pittsburgh Steelers traded George Pickens to the Dallas Cowboys, they created a need at wide receiver, but when could that happen?

Steelers insider Mark Kaboly sees the Steelers’ trade or signing for a wide receiver happening before they end mandatory minicamp, especially after the hassle they went through last year trying to land Brandon Aiyuk.

“I think they will definitely get one,” Kaboly said on the ‘Kaboly + Mack Podcast’. “Probably before they go on their hiatus here too, in the next two or three weeks. Maybe the end of minicamp, somewhere around there. I think they learned a lesson last year, where you can’t really count the eggs in the basket.”

The Steelers have a few more options in free agency, from splashy names like Keenan Allen and Amaro Cooper to lesser names like D.J. Chark and Gabe Davis, there are at least options for the Steelers. Kaboly is not expecting one of the top names to be the answer for the Steelers.

“It’s probably not gonna be the Keenan Allens or Amari Coopers,” Kaboly said. “They would’ve been here by now.”

For now, the Steelers will go ahead with Robert Woods, Calvin Austin III, and Roman Wilson as their answers across from DK Metcalf. Until they add somebody, those players have a lot to prove in what they could bring to the table.
