Steelers Draft Pick Hopes To Learn From NFL Legend

The Pittsburgh Steelers definitely have a quarterback problem. While they play the waiting game with potential veteran free agent signee Aaron Rodgers, reports are that they may be shifting their focus to acquiring Kirk Cousins from Atlanta after he lost the starting job to rookie Michael Penix Jr. last season.

Also thrown into the mix are Mason Rudolph and Skylar Thompson who are already on the roster, and Will Howard, the team's sixth-round draft pick this year.

Howard could be the future, and the team hopes it plays out that way, but it could take a bit. The Steelers most likely don't want to enter 2025 with the former Ohio State Buckeye under center in Week 1.

During an appearance on Up And Adams this week, Howard said while he has no idea how the situation will play out, he'd be happy learning from Aaron Rodgers if that's what happens.

“I don’t know what’s going to happen,” Howard said. “That’s all over my head. But I’d love to be in a room and learn from him. Again, who knows what’s going to happen. I have no idea and that’s above my head. They need like a gritty guy."

Howard, who was born in West Chester, PA, said he's already learned from another NFL legend from Pittsburgh in two-time Super Bowl champion Ben Roethlisberger.

"Growing up, for me, watching the Pittsburgh Steelers and Big Ben, Big Ben was that guy. He was Pittsburgh," Howard said. "He was the Steel City, the blue-collar and gritty guy. And I want to be that, too. I want to bring that edge and that energy. I think I did a pretty good job of it at Ohio State, and I kind of like to pride myself on that and I’m going to try and bring it to the Steel City.”
