The Pittsburgh Steelers struggled with depth at wide receiver last season, and unless something changes this offseason, they're going to go through the same thing again in 2025.
After trading for former Seattle Seahawks wideout DK Metcalf earlier this offseason, Pittsburgh shipped out George Pickens, sending him to Dallas. That means the Steelers are still short.
In a room that boasts Metcalf, Calvin Austin, Brandon Johnson, Lance McCutcheon, Scotty Miller, Ben Skowronek, Roc Taylor, Ke'Shawn Williams, Roman Wilson and Robert Woods on the 90-man offseason roster, it could be hard to find depth for the regular season.
After he spent most of his rookie campaign last year injured, Wilson could hope for a breakout season, and it would be welcomed by the team. But that can't be counted on.
Steelers insider Mark Kaboly thinks Pittsburgh could find one in free agency.
"I think they will definitely get one,” Kaboly said. "Probably before they go on their hiatus here, too, in the next two or three weeks. Maybe the end of minicamp, somewhere around there. I think they learned a lesson last year, where you can’t really count the eggs in the basket."
It was a pretty sketchy basket last season too. Pickens led the team with 900 yards but only scored three touchdowns. Austin was second for wideouts with 548 and four scores, and Van Jefferson, who's now in Tennessee, was third with 276 yards and two touchdowns.
Who are some possibilities for Kabloy?
"It’s probably not gonna be the Keenan Allens or Amari Coopers," Kaboly said. "They would’ve been here by now."
