Report: Kevin De Bruyne is now set to sign for his next club in two weeks as Man City exit nears

Manchester City’s upcoming contest against Fulham at Craven Cottage will be an emotional affair for the visitors as Kevin De Bruyne is set to play his final game in a Sky Blues shirt.

The Belgian maestro would be looking to bow out on a high note with a victory — even though a point will secure City’s place in the Champions League for next season.

After Sunday’s clash, Kevin De Bruyne will be hoping to finalise his move away from the Etihad Stadium as soon as possible.

Clubs are ready to secure the 33-year-old’s services, with Serie A winners Napoli prepared to sign De Bruyne and build a dynasty under Antonio Conte.

However, the Italian giants face stiff competition from Chicago Fire, who are eyeing De Bruyne to become the face of their project.

The likes of Edin Dzeko, Carlos Tevez and David Silva all left City for pastures new and managed to demonstrate their class.

De Bruyne could follow in Dzeko and Tevez’s paths by playing in the Italian top-flight after leaving Manchester City — as the Daily Mail have reported that he is expected to complete a move to Napoli in the next fortnight.

The midfield maestro is keen to still showcase that he can perform at the highest level and as a result, he is prioritising staying in Europe and playing for a top club instead of playing his football outside the continent.

De Bruyne is leaving the Premier League as he has no intention of playing for a club apart from Manchester City in England and notably, he already shares a deep connection with Napoli as he was married in Naples back in 2017.

Romelu Lukaku may have let slip that De Bruyne will join Napoli

The six-time Premier League winner will be hoping to win the Serie A in his first season at the Stadio Diego Armando Maradona.

Having lifted the DFB-Pokal in Germany as well as several pieces of silverware in England, reigning supreme in Italy could add to the veteran’s status as a legend of the game.

After clinching the league title on the weekend, Romelu Lukaku was quizzed about whether he had a chat with De Bruyne about signing for Napoli.

"Dopo Napoli-Inter ho capito che potevamo farcela"

"De Bruyne? No comment"

Lukaku replied: “No comment” while speaking to DAZN followed by a grin.

Perhaps the former Inter Milan striker did not give away his club’s transfer plans but he seemed to have suggested that a move is in the works.
