Chelsea are set to revive their chase for Alejandro Garnacho. This comes after reports that Manchester United boss Ruben Amorim advised the winger that he can leave in the summer transfer window.
The 20-year-old Argentine winger had initially drawn the Blues’ attention in January and can now emerge as one of their top targets. They seek to strengthen their attacking frontline, and the direct winger is seen as an impressive option.
Garnacho’s exit from Old Trafford is imminent following a tense relationship with Amorim. He contributed hugely all season, with 11 goals and 10 assists from 58 games. However, he was restricted to a 20-minute performance as United lost to Tottenham in the final of the Europa League.
He grumbled about it post-match, saying:
“Until we reached the final, I played every round. And I played 20 minutes today – I don’t know. I’m going to try to enjoy the summer and see what happens next.”
Chelsea were close to completing the signing of Garnacho in the winter transfer window. Now, they are now well-positioned to complete the transfer. Manchester United have attached a price tag of approximately £60 million to the winger.
Since Garnacho has a contract lasting until 2028, the transfer price reflects his potential and United’s interest in reconstructing their team. The Blues want to improve their wings, especially given some of the struggles among existing players.
Chelsea Are Not the Only Interested Party Chasing Garnacho
Garnacho’s Premier League experience and adaptability are the best assets that could guide the Blues next season. However, they are not the sole interested teams. The 20-year-old winger is being monitored are Napoli and Atletico Madrid, whose radars have been set on Old Trafford.
As the summer window draws to a close, the Blues recognize that bringing in Garnacho would be an intelligent move in strengthening their team with pace and youth. If the transfer is completed, it could be a huge signing for the Londoners and provide Garnacho with a clean new start to his career.
