An already dismal season ended in the worst possible way for Manchester United. They lost Wednesday’s Europa League final to Tottenham.
After the match, Amorim reportedly offered to leave his position as manager of the club. The club is currently 16th in the Premier League. He made this offer if the board and supporters no longer had confidence in him.
That doesn’t seem to be the case. David Ornstein writes in The Athletic that the Portuguese called the United players to a private meeting. He informed them about the upcoming season.
There, Amorim reportedly informed the players. He assured them that he will remain as head coach of the Red Devils next season.
One who, however, apparently has no future at the club is the Argentine winger Alejandro Garnacho.
According to Ornstein, Amorim is said to have told Garnacho to find himself a new club for the upcoming season.
EXCLUSIVE: Ruben Amorim has told the Man United squad he’s staying next season and has asked Alejandro Garnacho to find a new club.
He offered to resign after the UEL final loss but confirmed his decision at Carrington on Saturday.

Garnacho was substituted in the 71st minute of the final against Tottenham. He expressed his displeasure after the match. He stated that “we’ll see what happens” about his future.
It’s difficult for everyone. This season was miserable. Until the final I played every game, but today I only got twenty minutes. I’m going to try to enjoy the summer, and we’ll see what happens after that, Garnacho said after the match.
The Argentine’s brother, Roberto, also published a post on Instagram. He claimed that Amorim had thrown his brother under the bus.
