Browns QB Room Could Get Thinner Before Season Starts

The Cleveland Browns have a logjam at quarterback this offseason. While dealing with the injury to Deshaun Watson, the team signed veterans Joe Flacco and Kenny Pickett and then drafted Dillon Gabriel and Shedeur Sanders.

It's highly unlikely that the team will carry all four to the final 53-man roster ahead of 2025, so at some point, there could be an odd man out.

A handful of teams still need a starting quarterback. The Browns' rival Pittsburgh Steelers are one of them, but we can't see them trading for Pickett after discarding of him so recently. But another team that needs one is down south in New Orleans.

After Saints starter Derek Carr abruptly announced his retirement this offseason New Orleans is in a bad spot.

Locked on Saints host Ron Jackson discussed the possibility of Pickett being a Saint before the season starts during an appearance on 92.3 The Fan.

“In a scenario in which the Saints get to the end of the preseason and decided they need a veteran quarterback in their building, I can absolutely see Kenny Pickett being a target," Jackson said. "No disrespect to Joe Flacco, but the reason why I like Kenny Pickett is because he has the connection to Kellen Moore, he played under Kellen Moore, and won under Kellen Moore."

After being drafted by the Steelers in the first round of the 2022 draft, Pickett has posted 4,765 yards and 15 touchdowns to 14 interceptions while completing 62.4 percent of his passes across three seasons - two in Pittsburgh and one in Philadelphia.
