Commanders Named Major Winner of 2025 Offseason

When the Washington Commanders walked off the field in Philadelphia following the NFC Championship Game, the team ended the 2024-25 season with a sour taste in their mouth.

Despite an eight-win turnaround from the year prior and their first appearance in the conference championship game in decades, their 55-23 loss to their NFC East rivals left the organization wanting more.

And general manager Adam Peters made plenty of moves to close the gap with the Eagles. Stars like Deebo Samuel and Laremy Tunsil were brought in to bolster their offense.

Because of those moves, Bleacher Report writer Alex Ballentine thinks Washington has been one of the off-season's biggest winners.

"Washington was one of the biggest winners in the 2024 offseason. This offseason, the team used the trade market to try to build off that momentum. Deebo Samuel and Laremy Tunsil are the headliners, and the Commanders only made five picks in the draft," Ballentine wrote. "Their first pick could wind up being one of the most important of the Jayden Daniels era, though.

"We've seen how crucial it is to put a good line in front of a young quarterback, and (first-round rookie) Josh Conerly has the potential to be a good starting tackle for years to come."

The Commanders won't be relying on the 2025 draft to change life forever for the franchise. They are hoping they can get some production that turns the tide in the division.

As things stand right now, the Commanders are a team that will be expected to make things hard for the Eagles in the NFC East. Time will tell if their offseason additions are enough to close the gap officially, though.
