The Green Bay Packers, over the better part of the last three decades, have seen their biggest division rivalries be between themselves and the Chicago Bears and Minnesota Vikings. From 1992 (Brett Favre‘s first season in Green Bay) until 2022, the Packers, Bears, and Vikings combined to win the NFC North 29 times in 31 years.
However, the Detroit Lions have won the division in each of the past two seasons and, despite losing both their offensive and defensive coordinators this offseason, are the favorites to win it again in 2025.
What is more, dating back to the 2021 season, Green Bay is just 2-6 against Detroit. Their rivalry has, indeed, intensified over the past few seasons due to the Lions being competitive for the first time in nearly 30 years.

To be sure, there is a great deal of bad blood between the Packers and Lions, especially recently. Amon-Ra St. Brown, Detroit’s Pro Bowl wide receiver, has gone as far as to show up to gamedays against Green Bay wearing attire that expresses just how much he hates his NFC North rival:

And he is not alone in his disdain for Green Bay. Isaac TeSlaa, who was drafted by the Lions in the third round this year, is a Michigan native who grew up despising the Packers.
During a recent episode of Amon-Ra’s podcast, which he hosts with his brother, former Packers wide receiver Equanimeous St. Brown, TeSlaa described just how much he hates his “new” rival:
“I hate the Packers with a burning passion.”

“I hate the Packers with a burning passion,” TeSlaa said. This hate, of course, stems from his growing up a Lions fan in Michigan.
Now that he is playing for his home state team, he will get to face the team that dominated his current franchise for the better part of three decades.
