AUSTIN, Texas — No. 3 Texas softball is headed back to the Women's College World Series.
The Longhorns (51-11) held off No. 13 Clemson, 6-5, in Game 3 of the Austin Super Regional at McCombs Field Saturday night.
Texas will play the winner of the Georgia-Florida Super Regional final in the first round of the double-elimination WCWS in Oklahoma City.
Texas coach Mike White is all about the drama. For the seventh straight time, White's team dropped the first game of a Super Regional, but White is 6-1 in Game 2 of Super Regionals, and the Longhorns are advancing to the WCWS for the third time in the last four years.
In 2024, Texas finished runner-up to four-time defending national champion Oklahoma in the WCWS.
