Marquette Golden Eagles: Kam Jones’ Stock Falling Ahead of 2025 NBA Draft? Major Predictions…

Kam Jones was projected as a first round draft pick when the college season was still ongoing. He was even predicted to go to a team that could have good use of his talent skills. However, things are different now for the Marquette Golden Eagles star.

Jones, who was the Golden Eagles’ top scorer last season, participated in the NBA Combine and felt great about how he performed.

“What part of your game do you think is gonna allow to get your foot on the door of the NBA level right of the bat,” a reporter asked.

He answered:

“Pretty much what I bring to the table. I don’t think there’s anything you could ask of a point guard that I can’t do. I play at a pretty high level on both ends, honestly.”

That does not seem to translate well when it comes to mock drafts.

ESNP, NBADraft.net, Yahoo! Sports, CBS more project him to get picked in the second round. The latest is at #53.

Kam Jones will go to teams where his talent is needed

Jones was praised early this year for his NBA ready skills and if he does fall in the second round, he might find it favorable to be picked by a team that could use him right away.

He recently said that he already talked to two teams during the combine. It was not confirmed who they are but one team being linked to him is the Golden State Warriors who are reportedly looking for a point guard that can back up Stephen Curry.

Another team that might have an interest on him are the up and coming Detroit Pistons although it will be hard for him to break through since the team already has Cade Cunningham and Dennis Schroder etched in the PG position.

Kyle Boone of CBS Sports wrote:

Detroit should continue to be adding shooting and playmaking around Cade Cunningham — both of which are boxes Jones could help tick off. His efficiency last season dipped off but he has tools to be a complementary piece with his playmaking and ability to make shots; Synergy rated him in the 79th percentile last season in catch-and-shoot scenarios when unguarded.
