The reverberations from Man Utd’s horrendous season were expected to be ominous and the first domino has fallen with Alejandro Garnacho’s transfer claim.
Ruben Amorim has told Alejandro Garnacho he can leave in the summer after a tiff between the player and the manager over his UEL final role.
Garnacho has always had an uneasy relationship with Ruben Amorim, even when he turned it around and became a fixture in the first team.
However, publicly calling him out was the straw that broke the camel’s back and Garnacho is on his way out now. The worrying thing is that Man Utd have already made a mistake with the first part of that story.

Man Utd’s mistake with Alejandro Garnacho transfer
Firstly, it must be said that selling Alejandro Garnacho is not a mistake in itself because his professional transgressions have crossed a line multiple times now.
Combine that with his not having a clear role in Amorim’s tactical system, plus his value as a financial asset, and it’s easy to make a case for his transfer.
However, United cannot afford to sell him for a low fee because he’s just 20 years old with potential to improve, and made nearly 60 appearances this season alone.
Unfortunately, United have already fumbled that part because the news leaked that Amorim has told Garnacho to find a new club.
More United News
The Man Utd manager didn’t just inform him that, he did so in front of the whole squad, a damning way to do things that almost certainly confirms he’s played his last United game.
Much like the treatment of Marcus Rashford, Amorim has now ensured United will face an uphill task in trying to flog Garnacho to interested teams.
Buyers will lowball United because they know Garnacho needs to be sold, which is a recipe for negotiation disaster.
Ruben Amorim has repeated his mistake
When United decision-makers were sitting at the table to finalise the squad for next season, Garnacho should have been in the “we’ll consider offers” part of the block instead of “must sell”.
As soon as this news leaked, however, he’s gone into the latter block, and thus, United’s ability to get the maximum fee for one of their few sellable assets has dissipated.
Curiously, this is not the first time it has happened. Ruben Amorim was infamously brutal about Marcus Rashford’s attitude and that led to the club accepting the first offer for him which came their way.
Garnacho is even more sellable than Rashford because of his age and wages but Amorim has done the same thing by burning all bridges before the player’s departure.
Sometimes, he doesn’t need to be so honest!
