TheDallas Cowboys will parade a new-look backfield in the 2025 NFL season. While Dak Prescott remains the team’s top quarterback, the running back room features new faces, including that of former Denver Broncos tailback Javonte Williams.
The 25-year-old Williams is looking to give the Cowboys’ rushing attack – and his career, for that matter – a spark. He suffered a serious knee injury in 2022, his second season in the NFL, but that did not deter Dallas from giving him a contract, albeit one that’s just for a year and worth $3 million.
Williams is all about showing the Dallas Cowboys that he can contribute

While there are doubts about his durabilitybecause of his injury history, Williams is more focused on doing work in the offseason than on where he’ll end up eventually on Dallas’ running back depth chart.
“They didn’t really tell me too much about that stuff, all I know is just come in here and work every day, and everything else is going to take care of itself,” Williams said (via the Cowboys’ official website). “I’m not really big on the expectations and goals and stuff like that, I just go out and play well.”
Apart from Williams, the Cowboys also added veteran running back Miles Sanders into the RB mix as well as two draftees in Jaydon Blue and Phil Mafah.
Last season, the Cowboys, with now-Carolina Panthers running back Rico Dowdle leading the attack on the ground, averaged 100.3 rushing yards per game – just 27th overall in the NFL.
