Man City and Arsenal chasing Premier League midfielder

Manchester City travel to West London to face Fulham in their final game of the season on Sunday afternoon.

The Citizens currently sit third in the top flight table and a point at Craven Cottage is likely to be enough for Pep Guardiola’s side to secure a place in next season’s Champions League, due to their superior goal difference compared to the teams below them.

Despite likely qualifying for Europe’s premier club competition next term, Guardiola will be disappointed at his side’s season.

City failed to win a fifth consecutive Premier League title, and also struggled in Europe as well as losing in the FA Cup final against Crystal Palace.

It appears, however, that the Manchester club are already looking ahead to this summer’s transfer window.

According to Football Insider, City are in the race to sign Nottingham Forest midfielder Morgan Gibbs-White.

The report claims that the Citizens will face competition from rivals Arsenal in their pursuit of the 25-year-old, who has been in fine form for Nuno Esperito Santo’s side this season.

Gibbs-White has scored seven goals and registered ten assists in 33 Premier League matches for Forest so far this term, helping the City Ground side secure European football for next season.

It is claimed that Arsenal will try to lure the player to North London with the offer of Champions League football next season, however City are also trying to sign the Englishman and may be able to offer the same incentive.

Gibbs-White’s current contract with Forest is set to run until the end of the 2026/27 campaign, but it appears that the Midlands club may face a battle to keep hold of the midfielder beyond this summer with two of the Premier League’s biggest sides chasing him.
