Liverpool want to be fast and are working to agree a deal to sign Bayer Leverkusen star Florian Wirtz as soon as possible, according to Fabrizio Romano while speaking in his latest YouTube video on Saturday night.

News broke on Friday evening that the Germany international had chosen to join the Reds and that they were the new favourites to seal a big-money deal ahead of Bayern Munich.

The German's move to Anfield is 'progressing well'

Whereas some transfers can drag on for weeks, Romano doesn't expect Wirtz to Liverpool to follow the same path.

The Italian journalist says that Liverpool are working constantly to get the deal over the line for the Germany international, and to avoid any surprises with Bayern Munich and Manchester City out of the race as things stand.

Romano wrote in his exclusive GIVEMESPORT column on Saturday that the Reds expect to pay more than €100m to sign Wirtz after other reports have suggested that the Bundesliga club are asking for £126m.

Meanwhile, Sky Sports journalist Sacha Tavolieri has suggested that an agreement on personal terms has been found at around £325,000-a-week over a five-year contract for Wirtz - described as a "ridiculous signing" by Sky Sports' Dougie Critchley.

Speaking on his YouTube channel, Romano said he's expecting a 'here we go' soon on the move:

I don't expect a two or three-week saga for Florian Wirtz. Liverpool want to be fast. Liverpool want to avoid any surprises. So it's a work in progress, working on completing this package for Florian Wirtz.

But for sure, Liverpool are on the right path to get everything done and to get one of the best players in the world, one of the best talents in the world. That's what they believe at the club, because they see a big potential in the qualities and skills of Florian Wirtz.

So it's progressing very well. And again, I can confirm what I told you yesterday. The hope of Liverpool is to get it done quick and to have the 'here we go' very soon for one of the best signings in recent years, in my personal view.

As well as a potential club-record deal for Wirtz, Liverpool have also agreed to sign Jeremie Frimpong from Leverkusen too, with that move expected to be announced shortly, as the Reds look to strengthen on the right-hand side following the departure of Trent Alexander-Arnold to Real Madrid.

Meanwhile, the Merseyside outfit are also looking to move quickly on the opposite flank with Bournemouth's Milos Kerkez in their sights to provide competition to Andy Robertson at left-back, as revealed by Romano on GIVEMESPORT'S Market Madness podcast this week.

Liverpool are looking to build on their Premier League success and if they can add Wirtz to their squad after tying down Virgil van Dijk and Mohamed Salah, more successful moments surely aren't too far away.
