Egyptian superstar Mohamed Salah has been named English Premier League Player of the Season.
Therefore, the world-class winger became only the fifth player in Premier League history to win the award on multiple occasions.
“Salah, who also won it in 2017/18, follows in the footsteps of fellow two-time winners Thierry Henry, Cristiano Ronaldo, Nemanja Vidic and Kevin De Bruyne,” a Premier League statement read.
“Having signed a new contract, Salah will head into next season aiming to be the first ever player to win it three times. The Egyptian could now make history on the Premier League’s final day on Sunday.
“Salah leads the league for goals and assists and could be the first ever player to win the Golden Boot, Golden Playmaker and Player of the Season award in the same campaign.
“The Egyptian has scored 28 goals, five more than anyone else, while his 18 assists are six more than any other player and rank just two off the all-time single-season record of 20, jointly held by Henry and De Bruyne.”
Salah and his Liverpool teammates will face Crystal Palace on Sunday as the champions look to end a successful Premier League campaign with a win at Anfield.
