Rarely does an academy player leap into the ‘multi-million’ category but sales of academy players can contribute hugely to the balance of PSR calculations. [Divin Mubama](https://www.claretandhugh.info/didnt-see-that-coming-man-city-set-to-sign-mubama/) fetched £2 million when he was sold to Manchester City – and it appears that another young talent is a fast-appreciating asset even though he hasn’t been anywhere near the West Ham first team in over a season.
**George Earthy** is still very much a hot property down in the West Country with Bristol City keen to try and secure his signature permanently, following a very successful loan season, even being named their Young Player of the Year.
Today’s [footballleagueworld.co.uk](https://footballleagueworld.co.uk/whatever-we-can-bristol-city-verdict-delivered-on-potential-permanent-move-for-west-ham-star/) carries an article describing Earthy’s spell at Ashton gate and the ambition that the Bristol side have to keep hold of the Hammers’ youngster:
_“he’s young, he’s bright and one of the best players that have come through West Ham’s academy in recent times so I’ll be surprised if they want to let him go already……I think he’ll command a reasonable fee around £5m”_
Earthy will be back at London Stadium this summer trying to impress Graham Potter following his taste of first team football under David Moyes.
Whether he stays or goes out on loan again will depend on West Ham’s successes in the transfer window over the coming weeks as the transition of the midfield takes shape. With Earthy and Freddie Potts both blossoming into quality youngsters, there should be no shortage of pace and passion in the Hammers reshaped midfield line.
Lewis Orford coming along nicely too means the future is bright – but whether it is expecting too much for any of the trio to step up to Premier League standards just yet, to be ready for August ’25, remains to be seen.
