Following the 2-0 win over Real Sociedad, Real Madrid coach Carlo Ancelotti addressed fans to give a goodbye speech as he departs the club after 353 games in charge.
“It has been an honour and a pleasure to coach this club, this team,” he said.
“I want to thank, first of all, my dear president Florentino. It has been fantastic to coach this group of footballers of extraordinary quality. It has been fantastic to share all these moments with you.
“It has been extraordinary to live this story with you. It has been an extraordinary story because nobody can forget Karim’s three goals against PSG, or Rodrygo’s two against Manchester City, or Luka’s pass against Chelsea, or Joselu’s two goals [against Bayern Muncih].
“I can’t forget every day I’ve spent here either. I’ll end with a Hala Madrid and nothing more! I love you very much.”
The Italian was thrown up into the air by his players as the celebrations went on, ending a remarkable era with 14 trophies across two spells. There was no traditional post-match press conference.
Ancelotti’s post on social media
On social media, Ancelotti also posted a message to fans beyond the Bernabéu, which remained packed to the rafters to pay tribute to him.
Online, he posted, “today we are parting ways once again. Today I once again hold in my heart every moment I have experienced in this wonderful second spell as Real Madrid coach.”
“They have been unforgettable years, an incredible journey full of emotions, titles and, above all, the pride of representing this crest.
“Thanks to president Florentino Pérez, to the club, to my players, to my staff and, above all, to this unique fan base that has always made me feel like one of them.
“What we have achieved together will remain forever in the memory of Madridismo, not only for the victories, but for the way in which we achieved them. The magical nights at the Bernabéu are now football history.
“Now a new adventure begins, but my bond with Real Madrid is eternal. See you soon, Madridistas. Hala Madrid y Nada Más.”
