Bayer Leverkusen eyeing Liverpool duo

When top clubs are in a position to sell one of their star players, they don’t just focus on the fee.

They also start looking for the right replacements immediately.

That’s exactly what Bayer Leverkusen are doing now.

With their key man strongly linked with a move away, they’ve turned their attention to the Premier League—specifically, to Liverpool.

It’s not unusual for clubs to monitor players from top English teams.

Bundesliga sides have done it before.

And with Liverpool’s depth in certain positions, it’s understandable that some players could attract attention abroad.

But these things move quickly.

One moment it’s speculation, the next it’s serious interest.

Right now, that interest is coming from Leverkusen.

According to Lewis Steele of the Daily Mail, Bayer Leverkusen are keeping tabs on two Liverpool players: Harvey Elliott and Jarell Quansah.

The German champions are planning ahead in case they lose Florian Wirtz and defender Jonathan Tah this summer.

While no bids have been made yet, the interest is real.

The report stated, “Leverkusen have kept an eye on a couple of Liverpool players such as Harvey Elliott and Jarell Quansah to replace Wirtz and the outgoing defender Jonathan Tah, but these would be separate moves and interest is not advanced at this stage.”

As the Wirtz-to-Liverpool saga gathers pace, the Bundesliga side are bracing for the exit of their attacking talisman.

Reports say the Reds are preparing their first bid for Wirtz, who had 16 goals and 15 assists last season.

And while Leverkusen reportedly want top dollar—around £126m—they are also thinking about who could come in to fill that creative void.

That’s where Elliott and Quansah come in.

As of now, the interest in both Liverpool youngsters is not advanced.

It’s a sign of how much Liverpool’s young talents are respected in Europe.

And it’s another layer to what could be one of the biggest transfer stories of the summer.
