Manchester United are ready to battle Chelsea and Liverpool to sign Brighton star João Pedro during the January transfer window. United are prioritising the attacking department under Ruben Amorim, after they struggled to score goals consistently throughout the current season.
The Red Devils’ current campaign is the one which their loyal fanbase would love to erase from the history book. United are currently 16th in the Premier League table as they prepare to face Aston Villa in the last game.
The Red Devils lost the Europa League to Tottenham Hotspur, who are one point behind them in the Premier League. The Europa League loss shut their chance to qualify for the next season’s Champions League competition, taking away major revenue.
Manchester United want Brighton star Joao Pedro to partner with Matheus Cunha amid interest from Chelsea and Liverpool
United are already struggling with financial pressure, while needing resources to increase the transfer budget to back Amorim this summer. The current senior squad has failed to adjust to Amorim’s tactical demands, and he needs to recruit the right players.
According to Sky Sports reporter Rob Dorsett, United are ready to challenge Liverpool and Chelsea to sign Brighton forward Pedro. Brighton have set an asking price of around £59m for the highly talented Brazilian international amid interest from several clubs.
The 23-year-old has made 30 appearances in all competitions for Brighton this season, scoring 10 goals and providing seven assists. Pedro has the versatility to play as a main striker and also behind the number nine, as an attacking midfielder.
The Red Devils are already on the verge of signing Wolves star Matheus Cunha to bolster their struggling attacking department. Both Rasmus Hojlund and Joshua Zirkzee have failed to establish themselves under Amorim and have an uncertain future at United.
