Transfer news LIVE!

We are quickly closing in on the opening of the first of two summer transfer windows as Arsenal appear to be turning their attentions towards some new targets. With seemingly no progress made yet over the likes of Viktor Gyokeres and Benjamin Sesko, and wages proving a stumbling block for Real Madrid’s Rodrygo, the Gunners are now said to be looking at Brighton star Kaoru Mitoma as well as AC Milan forward Rafael Leao.

Arsenal are also being linked with a shock move to secure the return of former goalkeeper Emi Martinez, who is also on Manchester United’s radar along with Crystal Palace striker Jean-Philippe Mateta and Joao Pedro. Liverpool are believed to have made a huge contract offer to Florian Wirtz and are also interested in Pedro as they begin talks with Bournemouth over Milos Kerkez.

Chelsea have Liam Delap in their sights still, while Kevin De Bruyne will travel for talks with Napoli as Barcelona look at Marcus Rashford and Luis Diaz and speculation continues over a possible move for Cristiano Ronaldo in time for the Club World Cup. Xabi Alonso’s appointment as the new Real Madrid boss has also now been confirmed. Follow all the latest transfer news, rumours and gossip live below!

Arsenal target Kaoru Mitoma after Rodrygo blow

A new Arsenal transfer target for the summer has reportedly emerged in the form of Kaoru Mitoma.

The Japanese star has been a key performer for Brighton for several seasons now and has remained on the south coast despite plenty of links with a move away.

Bayern Munich are said to be chasing Mitoma having seemingly missed out to Liverpool on a blockbuster deal for Bayer Leverkusen forward Florian Wirtz.

But according to Sky Germany, Arsenal have also now joined the race for the 28-year-old as new sporting director Andrea Berta assesses winger alternatives to “dream signing” Rodrygo of Real Madrid, whose huge wage demands are proving a stumbling block to a deal.

Amorim tells Garnacho to LEAVE Man Utd this summer

Alejandro Garnacho is set to leave Manchester United this summer.

Lingering questions over the Argentine’s future at Old Trafford have intensified after he was restricted to a late cameo off the bench during Wednesday night’s Europa League final defeat by Tottenham in Bilbao.

Garnacho publicly expressed his disappointment at that decision by Ruben Amorim as he appeared to leave the door open to a potential exit, while his brother was also critical on social media.

Amorim would not be drawn specifically on the futures of Garnacho and United captain Bruno Fernandes - said to currently have a huge offer on the table from Al-Hilal in Saudi Arabia and only a week to decide - during a press conference held earlier today in advance of tomorrow’s Premier League season finale at home to Aston Villa.

However, The Athletic report that Garnacho has been told by Amorim to find a new club in talks between the manager and players held at Carrington today, in which he also confirmed that he would be remaining in his role for next season.

Will Still set to become new Southampton manager

Will Still has agreed to become the new manager of Southampton.

The Saints have been on the lookout for a replacement for Ivan Juric, who left the club last month following confirmation of their relegation from the Premier League.

The Croatian spent just 16 matches at the helm as a disastrous successor to promotion-winning boss Russell Martin, who was sacked in December.

Having been relegated with a whimper amid (now unfounded) concerns over potentially setting a new record low for points, Southampton have been under the temporary leadership of Simon Rusk while they lead the search for another new coach.

They were quickly linked with Still, the bilingual English manager who has built an impressive career in first Belgium and then France, most notably with Reims and Lens.

Still left Lens last week in order to return to the UK and be closer to partner Emma Saunders, the Sky Sports presenter who has been battling illlness.

According to The Telegraph, the 32-year-old has now reached a full agreement to head to St Mary’s on a three-year contract.

Barcelona admit interest in Luis Diaz and Marcus Rashford

Could Florian Wirtz be heading to Liverpool as a potential replacement for Luis Diaz?

There has been a fair bit of transfer speculation surrounding the Colombian forward over recent weeks, with Barcelona said to be keen on his signature.

The Blaugrana are also once again being linked with a move for Manchester United’s Marcus Rashford, who has spent the second half of this season on loan at Aston Villa.

Barca boss Hansi Flick has not hidden his admiration for both players as he addressed the media today ahead of the LaLiga champions’ final game of the season away at Athletic Club on Sunday night.

“Luis Diaz and Marcus Rashford are both fantastic players, I like them and we'll see what happens,” the German said.

“I won’t speak about players who are at other clubs.”

Florian Wirtz to Liverpool boost after Bayern admission

More good news for Liverpool over Florian Wirtz is now breaking this morning.

It seems that Bayern Munich have now been officially told that the Germany international is likely on his way to Anfield this summer.

Bayern president Herbert Hainer has been quoted as saying today: “[Bayern sporting director] Max Eberl has informed me that Florian Wirtz is probably leaning towards Liverpool."

Man Utd target Jean-Philippe Mateta deal

Manchester United will turn their attentions to Jean-Philippe Mateta after wrapping up a deal for Matheus Cunha, reports suggest.

The losing Europa League finalists are believed to be poised to clinch the £62.5m signing of Wolves’ Brazilian forward Cunha after the Premier League season concludes this weekend.

But there are many more new additions wanted at Old Trafford this summer as Ruben Amorim looks to quickly reshape his underperforming squad following an atrocious campaign.

Attack is obviously a particular area of focus, with French outlet L’Equipe claiming that United have joined the race for Mateta, who is entering the final year of his contract at Selhurst Park after winning the FA Cup and could also yet return to Ligue 1 as he bids to get back in the France squad.

The report mentions that United have also lodged enquiries over Sporting Lisbon’s Viktor Gyokeres and Napoli’s Galatasaray loanee Victor Osimhen.

Rodrygo to Arsenal latest

There appear to be concerns that Arsenal will be priced out of a complicated move for Real Madrid star Rodrygo.

The Gunners have been strongly linked with a swoop for the Brazilian in recent days with his future at the Bernabeu subject to considerable doubt.

Arsenal want to sign a new wide player this summer in addition to a striker, with Rodrygo and one of either Benjamin Sesko or Viktor Gyokeres seemingly a perfect combination for Mikel Arteta.

However, Sky report that Arsenal would be unwilling to meet his huge €10m-a-season wage demands, while there are fresh suggestions in Spain that Rodrygo - also linked with Chelsea and Liverpool - wants to stay and fight for his future under new boss Xabi Alonso at Real Madrid, where he remains under contract until 2028.

Florian Wirtz to Liverpool twist

Florian Wirtz to Liverpool is obviously the big transfer news of the weekend.

Reports emerged late on Friday that the Reds were in talks with Bayer Leverkusen over quickly wrapping up an expensive deal for the highly-rated German forward after he signalled a desire to move to Anfield.

Manchester City pulled out of the race for Wirtz last week, with Bayern Munich remaining as Liverpool’s chief rivals.

But it seems that the 22-year-old is heading to Merseyside, with Sky Germany’s Florian Plettenberg reporting this morning that there are discussions being held that would see Leverkusen receive a hefty fee as well as a player in exchange for Wirtz.

Arsenal in talks over Benjamin Sesko deal

Arsenal could sign Benjamin Sesko instead of Viktor Gyokeres this summer.

Both prolific players have been heavily linked with the Gunners for some time now, along with a number of their top Premier League rivals.

There has been speculation that manager Mikel Arteta and new sporting director Andrea Berta each favour a different striker, with the former said to be more keen on Sesko.

Sky Germany report that Arsenal are now in concrete talks with RB Leipzig over the Slovenian international, who has scored 21 goals in 45 appearances across all competitions this season.

Rodrygo's wages a stumbling block for Arsenal

Arsenal’s pursuit of Real Madrid winger Rodrygo has cooled as the Gunners are reportedly unwilling to match the Brazilian’s wages.

He is currently paid €10 million per year by Real, about £8.4m, a sum which Arsenal do not want to match. The player is still willing to move should a suitable offer come in.

Negotiations are ongoing.
