Marcus Rashford provides injury update after missing the end of the season, ‘the comeback is…’

Marcus Rashford has provided an update on his injury after missing the end of the Premier League season.

The 27-year-old joined Aston Villa on loan for the remainder of the season in January, impressing with his performances and recording 10 goal contributions in his 17 appearances.

In March, Thomas Tuchel recalled Marcus Rashford to the England squad, but he has been overlooked for the next round of international fixtures this summer due to injury.

Rashford sustained a hamstring injury and has missed the last four games for Villa. He also isn’t eligible to play against Manchester United on the final day of the season.

This means Rashford’s season is over; however, it’s unclear if he will be in attendance when Villa travel to Old Trafford.

Marcus Rashford provides injury update

Marcus Rashford has played his final match for Villa unless they decide to take up an option to sign him for £40m in the summer.

It is understood that Rashford is dreaming of a move to Barcelona, with his days numbered under Ruben Amorim at Old Trafford.

The England international did not recover in time to face Tottenham in their previous fixture, but he would not have been in Villa’s squad to face United even if he were fit enough.

On Saturday, Rashford took to social media to share an update on his recovery, including pictures from Villa’s Bodymoor Heath training ground. The caption read: “Outside running again! 79% of my maximum speed. The comeback is always better than the setback.”

Some challenges come with selling injured players, but it looks like Rashford is returning to full fitness in time for the transfer window. At least there is a positive way to look at it from United’s perspective.

What did Hansi Flick say about Rashford?

Barcelona manager Hansi Flick is not hiding the fact that he is a fan of Rashford.

Reports suggest that Rashford’s entourage is doing everything it can to get their client a deal at Barcelona, but it remains to be seen if the La Liga club will be able to afford such a deal.

Flick is keen for reinforcements in the attacking department of his squad after sporting director Deco confirmed the club’s interest in both Luis Diaz and Rashford earlier this week.

In an interview with RAC 1, Deco was asked about Barcelona’s key transfer targets. He replied: “We like Luis, we like Rashford, and we like other players.

“Out of respect, talking about players who are under contract with other clubs is complicated. When we go to the market, there are names we know that could improve the team.”

When asked if he would be signing a new winger in the summer, Flick told reporters at a press conference: “This is what we have talked about with the club. In the last matches maybe we did not have a lot of options in that position… so we have to bring more options to the team and more quality. This is the job from Deco, is clear, and I will support him.”

He added: “I don’t want to speak about players which are not in my team, but of course Luis Diaz and Marcus Rashford are fantastic players. I like them and we’ll see what happens.”
