Turkish Süper Lig giants Besiktas have reportedly initiated contact with Arsenal over a potential summer move for experienced midfielder Thomas Partey.

Fanatik report that initial discussions with the 31-year-old Ghanaian’s representatives have been positive.

Partey has faced a challenging season in the Premier League, primarily due to recurring injury issues and subsequently finding himself in a rotational role within the Arsenal squad.

It is understood that the midfielder is now open to beginning a new chapter in his career. With his contract at Arsenal nearing its expiry, there’s a possibility he could be acquired for a reasonable transfer fee.

Besiktas has accelerated its efforts to bolster their midfield, with Partey identified as a key target.

The Black Eagles’ management has taken a significant step by directly contacting the Ghanaian star’s agent to inquire about his conditions for a move. The positive outcome of this preliminary meeting suggests that a transfer could be a realistic prospect.

Currently, Besiktas appears to be the only club making an official approach for Partey. The club’s ongoing squad planning emphasizes the acquisition of an experienced, two-way midfielder capable of leading their central park.

Thomas Partey, fitting this profile perfectly, is reportedly at the top of their transfer wishlist, and the club aims to finalize this transfer swiftly, subject to the technical committee’s approval.

In addition to their pursuit of Partey, Besiktas is also reportedly making strides in other transfer targets. The club is said to be taking concrete steps for Wolfsburg’s Vaclav Cerny, with a manager reportedly authorized to begin negotiations this week.

There’s also an indication that the club will push all conditions for a player currently on loan at Rangers, whose performances have attracted attention.

The aggressive moves by Besiktas signal their intent to significantly strengthen their squad ahead of the new season, with Thomas Partey seemingly their top priority for the midfield.
