Joao Gomes is a hugely popular player at Wolves – and his reaction to being named Supporters’ Player of the Season will go down extremely well.
Wolves will play their final Premier League game of the season today at Molineux, with Brentford the opponents.
Wolves are currently on a three-game losing streak, and Vitor Pereira will be determined to stop the rot before the campaign is out.
Prior to this run though, Wolves won six games in a row in the Premier League, which fired them to safety, which was the most important thing this term.
Wolves looked down and out at the start of the calendar year.
But the arrival of Pereira changed everything, and fans are now very optimistic about the future of the club under the Portuguese.
And one man who’s set to play a huge part going forward is Joao Gomes.

Joao Gomes is adored at Molineux.
The Brazilian was popular before he’d even completed his move to the club, after his stance ensured a transfer to the club from Flamengo would actually happen in January 2023.

Since signing, Gomes has got better and better, and he is now one of the best players Wolves have.
His partnership with Andre has gone from strength to strength, and Gomes’ importance to the team cannot be overstated.
Gomes recently signed a new contract at Wolves which was a huge development.
That suggested he just loves being here, and Gomes reiterated that message in a post on social media after being named Supporters’ Player of the Season.
He said on X: “Thank you for everything Wolves fans, I love you very much. I love being here and I love playing for you.”
It is not the first time Gomes has expressed his love for Wolves and the fans.
After the win over Leicester last month, Gomes said he felt ‘at home’ at Molineux, and it’s clear he won’t be going anywhere this summer.
Gomes heading for Ruben Neves levels of popularity at Wolves
One gets the feeling that Gomes genuinely does love playing for this club.
Since he arrived at the club he’s given his all for the badge on the pitch, and by many accounts he conducts himself superbly behind the scenes.
Gomes is a deserved winner of Supporters’ Player of the Season as he was just very consistent for Wolves, shining even when the team was struggling as a collective under Gary O’Neil. He always looked like he cared, and at times he looked like the only one who did.
With the way things have gone so far, and given his potential to get even better, Gomes stands to become as popular as Ruben Neves was at Wolves.
Neves is a modern day legend at Wolves and is greatly missed around these parts.
Gomes may not end up staying as long as he did. But certainly if he keeps doing what he’s doing he’ll be revered in a very similar way.
