Exclusive: Arsenal ready to sell £45m star Declan Rice called ‘special’ as they push to seal two new contracts

Arsenal are pressing ahead with their contract talks for Leandro Trossard and Gabriel Martinelli, sources have confirmed to TBR Football.

Andrea Berta has several tasks on his plate during his first summer at Arsenal, and it’s not just the arrival of new players that will be taking priority.

Arsenal also have several important contract situations to address, and Trossard in particular will be near the top of the queue.

As things stand, Trossard’s contract is set to expire in 2026 and clubs abroad will soon be able to start negotiating with the 30-year-old.

However, Berta has seemingly approached this summer’s tasks with some gusto, and the club are making progress with both Trossard and Martinelli.

That being said, TBR Football chief correspondent Graeme Bailey can confirm that talks are ongoing with Trossard over a deal to extend his stay a further year until 2027.

Trossard has made 55 appearances for Arsenal across all competitions this season, highlighting his importance.

Trossard has often been praised for his contributions, even if he’s not always able to hold down a starting spot in Mikel Arteta’s side.

And in terms of Martinelli, Arsenal are in talks over a new deal which would initially be until 2029.

Both players are seen as hugely important squad members for Arteta, and Arsenal are insisting that they don’t need to sell to add further numbers this summer.

Arsenal want to sign two new forwards — a wide player and a striker, but sources have confirmed to TBR that new deals for Trossard and Martinelli would not impact those plans.

Arsenal are ready to sell Gabriel Jesus

Although Arsenal don’t need to sell this summer, it’s understood that Gabriel Jesus could have been let go had he been fit.

Jesus underwent knee surgery in January and will therefore remain with Arsenal for the foreseeable.

However, the £45m striker’s future at Arsenal is far from certain and he would have been sold had he not suffered such a significant injury — one that the club will help him return from.

Of course, it wasn’t so long ago that Declan Rice called Jesus ‘special’ when he was in fine goalscoring form for Arsenal — shortly before the aforementioned injury.

But as Berta pushes to sign Viktor Gyokeres for Arsenal, it seems as if Jesus will eventually be moved on when he’s fit enough to do so.
