'You can't': Andy Robertson now shares how Arne Slot's unusual habit kept Liverpool on their toes all season

It’s clear to see how much of an impression Arne Slot has made on Andy Robertson and his Liverpool teammates as the Reds have already won the Premier League in his debut season in charge.

After accepting the Liverpool job, the Dutch tactician would have been determined to have Robertson on his side as one of the senior players in the dressing room.

The Scottish captain, alongside other big-hitters like Virgil van Dijk, Mohamed Salah, Trent Alexander-Arnold and Alisson Becker were accustomed to working with an all-time great like Jurgen Klopp as well.

But Salah lauded Arne Slot after Liverpool beat Tottenham Hotspur to win the league as the former Feyenoord boss seems to have commanded respect from day one.

Cody Gakpo highlighted Slot’s influence behind his improvement as the 46-year-old has truly been a phenomenal appointment for Liverpool.

Liverpool star Andy Robertson says Arne Slot watches training sessions back

The fact that Arne Slot has managed to succeed in the manner he has after succeeding a Reds legend like Jurgen Klopp speaks volumes about the coach as well as the character he is.

Slot’s personality led Liverpool to hire him and Andy Robertson was asked about his manager by Sky Sports.

Robertson revealed that the veteran keeps the Liverpool players on their toes as he watches training sessions back: “He watches every training session back and for us, that was a bit of a…okay, we can’t show up on Tuesday even though the game’s on a Saturday and be a wee bit, okay, let’s get through this session.”

“Because you can’t get away with that. The next day, he would show you clips of training, you would go, ‘I didn’t do this, I didn’t do that.’

Robertson added: “We’ve all had that, he’s maybe not said to me I didn’t do it, usually I’m a bit of a better trainer than Mo [Salah], I’ll claim that one, not a better player but a better trainer maybe. But I think we were all very much on our toes in terms of we knew him and his staff watched back every training session and everything in terms of training, games and so on.”

What Slot kept warning Liverpool’s players in training all season

Arne Slot seems to strive for perfection, which explains why he is cut out to succeed at the highest level and get the best out of big names like Robertson at Liverpool.

Slot’s grueling demands initially frustrated Salah behind the scenes as well, who is renowned as one of the most professional players across world football.

However, the Egyptian superstar can only thank his manager after having enjoyed the most productive season in his illustrious career at Anfield.

Joe Gomez lifted a lid on Arne Slot’s demands as the England international stated that the Dutchman always told the players not to get complacent.

Gomez mentioned: “Arne is constantly reminding us that we cannot get complacent. The coaching staff and the gaffer’s attention to detail is second to none.”
