Incredible photos unseen for years show the last time fans and Liverpool FC officially celebrated a Premier League title win at Anfield. Last month, Liverpool were officially declared Premier League champions after beating Tottenham 5-1 at Anfield.

Liverpool have been crowned champions of England 20 times with the club's most recent triumph coming under Arne Slot. The success of The Reds followed their 2019-20 win which finally ended a 30-year wait to lift the Premier League trophy once more. However in 2020, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the eagerly anticipated lift was behind closed doors. Jordan Henderson was the first captain in 30 years to lift the league title for the Reds but it was inside an empty Anfield.

Liverpool were being officially presented with their trophy on Sunday, May 25, after taking on Crystal Palace in the final game of the season at Anfield. On Bank Holiday Monday, May 26, Liverpool Football Club will celebrate their historic 20th English league title with a citywide victory parade.

To mark the occasion, we've delved into our archive to find these brilliant photos - unseen for years - of the last time LFC fans and the club could properly celebrate a Premier League title win at Anfield. Prior to their 2019-20 win, Liverpool last won the Premier League in 1989/90.

LFC clinched the title with a victory over Queens Park Rangers on April 28, 1990 with two games to spare. The league ended with Liverpool nine points clear at the top of the table and John Barnes the top goalscorer having found the back of the net 22 times in the top-flight alone.

These photos, courtesy of our archive Mirrorpix, show celebrations at Liverpool FC's last game of the season at Anfield, May 1 that year, after defeating Derby County 1-0. See more in our gallery below.
