No one can dispute the fact that the Buffalo Bills had themselves one heck of an offseason. They attacked the free agency frenzy and NFL Draft by bringing in a lot of defensive help to improve what was their weakest unit the last couple of seasons. With of the moves that they made, it would no surprise to see the Bills clinch their sixth consecutive division title.
Brandon Beane beefed up the defensive line and brought in a lot of young talent, both in the trenches and the secondary. Players like Maxwell Hairston, T.J. Sanders, and Landon Jackson should hopefully make immediate impacts. Then you have players like Deone Walker and Jordan Hancock who can become solid rotational players for their first season.
However, the biggest name that the Bills brought in this offseason is edge rusher Joey Bosa. The five-time Pro Bowler comes to Buffalo on a one-year deal hoping to get back to the ferocious pass rusher he once was.
The Bills also signed rotational players in EDGE/DL Michael Hoecht and DL Larry Ogunjobi. However, pretty much after the signings were made official, it was learned that the Bills would most likely be without both Hoecht and Ogunjobi for the first six games of the season due to them violating the league’s PED policy.
Bills' defense may hurt early on in 2025 due to these suspensions
Assuming that those suspensions are upheld, it will be known as a major questionable move by the Bills. Sayre Bedinger from NFL Spin Zone recently listed the signings of Hoecht and Ogunjobi as Buffalo’s biggest offseason mistake, considering the fact that they are set up to miss over a month of the season.
"The Buffalo Bills had to improve on the defensive front in 2025, and they did, but they didn’t do proper due diligence on the players they signed. Although Larry Ogunjobi and Michael Hoecht will eventually help the Buffalo defensive line, it won’t be during the first six games of the year as both guys were popped for violating the NFL’s PED policy. If it was just one guy, maybe you could argue that the Bills knew about it beforehand but two guys with PED suspensions is indicative that they didn’t do enough research."

While Hoecht and Ogunjobi aren’t super productive players, they are solid rotational players that the Bills could have utilized early on. With the Bills loving to rotate their players on the defensive line, not having two of them for the first month of the season is going to hurt them a bit especially if they are hit with injuries.
