Davide Ancelotti remains linked with the managerial vacancy at Rangers, as the impending new hierarchy at Ibrox looks to close in on an appointment.
Although Steven Gerrard had previously been considered a front-runner to replace Barry Ferguson at the helm, after the former Rangers man was spotted in Bahrain, suggestions of that have dwindled.
Meanwhile, as Carlo Ancelotti and his team prepare to leave Madrid for Brazil, reports from Spain have put the junior Ancelotti back in the frame.

Ancelotti edging towards Rangers
Although the 49ers are yet to complete their takeover at Ibrox, they know the need to have someone in place as soon as possible to get work underway.
Ianis Hagi, Leon Balogun and Tom Lawrence have already been let go at Ibrox upon the expiry of their contracts, but there are more big decisions to be made throughout the summer transfer window.

The American investors were keen to have an appointment within days, and, therefore, supporters in Light Blue will be expecting an announcement very soon.
It does seem as though movement may be happening, though, with plans being put in place for Ancelotti and his team to leave Spain.
According to The Athletic (25 May), in recent days, Ancelotti senior and his staff have hosted several meetings to plan for their future in Brazil, where they are expected to travel on Sunday (25 May).
However, the report states that there are doubts over whether his son and Francesco Mauri, who were the two main assistants at Real Madrid, will join them, due to their links with Rangers.
