Crystal Palace are opening new contract talks with Oliver Glasner from next week after he led the club to FA Cup success.

That is according to former Man United and Blackburn chief scout Mick Brown, who remains very well-connected within the game, as he exclusively told Football Insider that talks are expected to advance over the summer.

This comes after Palace chairman Steve Parish confessed “We want to try and extend his contract, but it has to be right for everybody.” [The Guardian]

Football Insider revealed on 20 May that Palace will hold contract talks with Glasner and sources say he “would love” to lead his side out in the Europa League.

That is despite speculation linking the boss with the Tottenham and RB Leipzig jobs thanks to the job he has done at Selhurst Park.

Meanwhile, Brown told Football Insider on 20 May that Palace have received a boost in contract talks after they lifted the FA Cup at Wembley.

Crystal Palace plan to hold new Oliver Glasner talks

Brown told Football Insider in March that Palace want Glasner to sign a new contract and are pushing to agree terms after holding initial talks.

The former scout, who has a wealth of experience working alongside elite-level managers including the likes of Sir Alex Ferguson for over a decade at Man United, insisted keeping the manager will be Palace’s first priority.

“*Crystal Palace’s top priority is to keep their best assets at the club,*” he told Football Insider.

“And that doesn’t just go for the players, but for the manager as well.

“They’re going to do everything in their power to show Oliver Glasner that they want to be ambitious and build upon the success they’ve had.

“That means being active in the window and also holding on to their top players like Eze and Mateta.

“It’s going to be a huge summer for them.

“So I’m sure they’ll sit down over the summer to talk about their plans and where they want to go.

“The manager will be backed and if they can show him they’re willing to match his ambitions, I don’t see why he would want to go anywhere else.

“If they can get him tied down, it puts down a marker to the players and shows they’re going somewhere and this is just the start.

“It gets rid of any doubt or feeling of getting out while the going is good.”

Marc Guehi update emerges after FA Cup success

While Palace will aim to keep their best players at the club ahead of their maiden Europa League campaign, speculation continues surrounding Marc Guehi’s future.

Brown told Football Insider on 24 May that Chelsea will increase their efforts to sign Guehi if they qualify for the Champions League as they aim to bolster their squad.

Meanwhile, Football Insider revealed Guehi’s future has not changed at Crystal Palace despite their FA Cup success, as he enters the final year of his deal.

There is a belief that the England international will be allowed to leave Selhurst Park this summer despite Palace having turned down a £70million offer in January.
