Falcons backup running back may get an opportunity to head elsewhere to become a starter.
In recent years, Tyler Allgeier has been a dependable workhorse back for the Atlanta Falcons, coming off the bench. NFL Insiders think Allgeier will eventually be dealt to a team so that he can highlight his skills as a starter, being that Bijan Robinson also carries most of the workload at the position for Atlanta.
Bleacher Report's Brent Sobleski thinks Atlanta should move Allgeier and get a future (2026) third-round pick in return.

"Bijan Robinson is the present and future of the Falcons' ground game. After the 2025 campaign, the 23-year-old will become eligible for an extension. Meanwhile, Allgeier is entering the final year of his rookie contract," Sobleski said.
"Allgeier has no incentive to sign an extension with the Falcons since he could go elsewhere and potentially become a starting option. His workhorse ability is being wasted behind Robinson.
"Atlanta did use a sixth-round pick last year to select Alabama's Jase McClellan, who could see an increased role if the Falcons flip Allgeier to another team before this year's trade deadline." Sobleski also stated.
With Atlanta giving up so much future draft real estate to select James Pearce Jr. after moving back into the first round, a move would make sense in this instance, but in today's NFL, having a two-headed monster at running back is beneficial.
In the 2026 NFL Draft, the Atlanta Falcons have only five picks, the same as in this year's draft, but they do not have a first-round pick due to the Pearce Jr. selection.
From a talent perspective alone, Atlanta should look for other ways to recoup some of what they have lost, but at the same time, Allgeier would want to start elsewhere. With Atlanta completely revamping the defense to put more pressure on the quarterback, Allgeier may wish to stay if they become a consistent contender.
